Our retail store is located downtown.
Diving courses available all year-round. Private courses available.
We teach children 10 years and older.
Passionate team of Instructors and Divemasters who love to teach.
Nitrox Specialty Course :
We require all divers enrolling in the Deep Specialty to have their Enriched Air Nitrox Specialty training. If you are not already certified you may choose it as an add-on to your course. This will include 2 free nitrox fills for the Deep Specialty course.
Drysuit Training :
With the Deep Specialty course we will be diving as deep as 40m/130ft. Comfort and stress management is very important to us. If you have not had much experience in a drysuit and are wanting to use one in the course, we will require you do extra training prior to your Deep Specialty.
Equipment Rental :
Diving Sports includes all the basic gear included in our Drysuit and Wetsuit rental packages. Mask, snorkel, dive computer, compass, and DSMB are not included in the course and are required. Nitrox gas fills are not included.
Transport can be provided from our shop to the dive site. We have our shop van (limited to a 6 passenger maximum capacity). Available passenger places in the shop van will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis.
BUDDY SPECIAL :
Having a buddy, someone to train or dive with is not required as divers will always be ‘buddied’ up if alone but there are discounts available for more than one student signing up. The discount is applied by ‘adding a buddy’ at the bottom of the sign up process.
Who is this course for:
The Deep Specialty is the next step for any recreational diver looking to extend their depth limits past what they achieved during the Advanced course. After finishing the eLearning you will spend a full weekend in the ocean refining your skills in order to safely make dives as deep as 40m/130ft. Over the course we will practice extended safety stops for simulated decompression, observe the extreme pressure change on a flexible object brought from the surface to depth, experience increased gas narcosis, and basic problem solving at depth. Since we will be training in deeper water it is necessary to have your Nitrox Specialty so we can dive enriched air during the course in order to spend more time safely at depth.
What You Will Learn:
You will learn more about gas planning techniques for deeper dives, diving with a “soft” ceiling, and how to psychologically prepare for diving to those depths. We will be practicing simulated emergency decompression stops and emergency air-source usage. You will learn the importance of dive planning and perfecting your skills in shallow water so if you do have a problem at depth, you will have muscle memory to fall back on for skills you have already mastered instead of trying to figure out something new at 40m.
Commitment to Safety and Enjoyment
At Diving Sports we believe in making sure all our students receive the highest quality instruction and customer service. We are in the business of training, mentoring, and supporting students to become safe, skillful and confident divers. We begin by scheduling our courses with the number of classes it typically takes most students to master the knowledge and skills, then adapt and tailor our schedule to fit our individual student’s needs. Our instructors are open and honest about your progress during each part of the course. Students may need to schedule additional pool or ocean training dives prior to certification. This ensures our students complete their courses with all the skills and knowledge they need to be safe and enjoy their future dives and courses. When you take a course with Diving Sports, you are welcomed into a passionate and inclusive community of divers eager to support your diving journey well beyond the duration of your class.
