Why train with us?

  • Low student to instructor ratios : 3 or 4 students per instructor both in the pool and ocean

  • Our retail store is located downtown.

  • Diving courses available all year-round. Private courses available.

  • We teach children 10 years and older.

  • Passionate team of Instructors and Divemasters who love to teach.

Our Technical Training Mindset :

Our first and foremost goal for our students is to create competent, safe, and knowledgeable divers who are truly capable of independently diving with a similarly-certified buddy, without the supervision or help of a guide.

We are generally very successful, and our alumni regularly dive together. However, understanding that to achieve this level of proficiency requires a huge amount of work, both on the part of the student and that of the instructor.

Our courses are charged per a day of training, and students earn a certification when the instructor feels they have fulfilled TDI/SDI standards and those of Diving Sports standards. The number of days listed for the courses below are bare minimums, assuming the student does everything right the first time. It's always good to plan on leaving time for an extra day or two on your course.

What is Included in the Course :

Diving Sports includes the price of tuition, the scheduled class dates and 4 days of diving, air fills, and certification fees. Students are responsible for their own equipment and enriched gas fills for the course. Manuals, eLearning, or both will be added on afterwards depending on student preference.

Equipment Requirements :

Students are required to be proficient diving with 2 Primary cylinders, either backmounted doubles or sidemount, before the start of the course. Students will be required to have appropriate cylinders for a decompression mix with an oxygen cleaned regulator. These may be rented out for the course.

Who is this course for:

The Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures Course (ANDP) is for divers who want to start to take diving seriously and begin their technical training. While they are two courses that can be taken on their own, they are best while combined with each other to make a very cohesive course. ANDP is the first step into longer deeper dives and exploring the underwater world and learning what it takes to be a technical diver. The TDI ANDP training will provide an equivalent certification as both PADI Tec 40 and Tec 45 courses combined.

What You Will Learn:

ANDP will develop your theoretical knowledge and practical skill set of diving far beyond what most recreational divers will have. We are going to cover a range of topics including equipment configuration, decompression theory, gas management, dive planning, and stress management. In-water we will be covering skills to prepare you for extended decompression stops, emergency management, gas loss, and team building. We focus on safety and control to make sure each student who comes out with a certification has the tools they need to progress to the next step in their diving.

Course Description:

We will spend 2 days in class. You have the option to do eLearning or purchase the manual only (this will affect the total material cost) so you may choose the option that is best for you. After finishing the class portion of the course we will be spending 4 days in the ocean, with 8 dives minimum. This is where you will build on the knowledge you learned during the first half of the course and develop your physical skill set as you work with your instructors and gain confidence as you become a technical diver. This is one of the most exciting and important steps as a diver you can make. If more dives are required to meet the instructors standards we will plan more days in the ocean as needed. Additional training costs are $400 per day plus gas fills.

Course Prerequisites:

  • Rescue Diver minimum
  • 100 logged dives, at least 25 dives in cold water in a drysuit.
  • Nitrox Certified
  • Deep Specialty Certified

  • Graduates Receive:

  • Certification to plan decompression dives to a maximum depth of 45m/150ft
  • Certification to dive with Nitrox mixes from 50% up to 100% Oxygen to use for accelerated decompression
  • Graduates may enroll in Extended Range and/or Trimix lvl 1
  • We are doing our part to try and reduce plastic use, so all of our certifications will be digital. If students would prefer a physical certification card, then they may pay to have one at the time of certification.

    Commitment to Safety and Enjoyment

At Diving Sports we believe in making sure all our students receive the highest quality instruction and customer service. We are in the business of training, mentoring, and supporting students to become safe, skillful and confident divers. We begin by scheduling our courses with the number of classes it typically takes most students to master the knowledge and skills, then adapt and tailor our schedule to fit our individual student’s needs. Our instructors are open and honest about your progress during each part of the course. Students may need to schedule additional pool or ocean training dives prior to certification. This ensures our students complete their courses with all the skills and knowledge they need to be safe and enjoy their future dives and courses. When you take a course with Diving Sports, you are welcomed into a passionate and inclusive community of divers eager to support your diving journey well beyond the duration of your class.
